Derek Schrier

Mr. Schrier is the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Indaba. Prior to founding Indaba in 2010, Mr. Schrier worked at Farallon Capital Management, L.L.C. from 1998 to 2008 and was elected as a partner in 2002. Prior to Farallon, Mr. Schrier worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department from 1990 to 1992. From 1992 to 1994, he worked for the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa, ultimately managing the elections research for the African National Congress’s political campaign during that country’s first-ever democratic and non-racial elections.

Mr. Schrier is a member of the Board of Directors of Matriculate, a non-profit organization helping to provide college access to high-achieving, low-income students. He also serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Boston Review, a journal of social and cultural criticism.

Mr. Schrier earned an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. He attended Princeton University where he graduated with an A.B. from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.

Eduard Sent

Mr. Sent is an Investment Partner of Indaba. Mr. Sent joined Indaba in 2015. From 2013 to 2015, Mr. Sent was an Analyst at BlueMountain Capital Management, LLC. Prior to BlueMountain Capital, he was a U.K. Partner and Senior Analyst at Owl Creek Asset Management LLP from 2010 to 2012, a Sector Head (2009 to 2010) and a Senior Analyst (2004 to 2009) at Perry Capital LLC, Head of Research at Primelife Corporation from 2000 to 2002 and an attorney at Mallesons Stephen Jaques from 1999 to 2000.

Mr. Sent earned an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and graduated from Monash University in Australia with Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law (Honors) degrees.

Clint Akarmann

Mr. Akarmann is a Managing Director of Indaba. Mr. Akarmann joined Indaba as an Investment Analyst in 2021 after completing a summer internship in 2020. From 2014 to 2017, Mr. Akarmann was a Healthcare Investment Banking Associate and Analyst at Citigroup.

Mr. Akarmann earned an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. He graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Economics and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Marco Martin

Mr. Martin is a Managing Director of Indaba. Mr. Martin joined Indaba in 2019 and was a Research Associate and later an Investment Analyst prior to his appointment as Head Trader in 2022. Prior to joining Indaba, Mr. Martin was an Event Driven Analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald.

Mr. Martin attended the University of Chicago where he played football and graduated with a B.A. in Economics.

Melody Lang

Ms. Lang is the Chief Financial Officer of Indaba. Ms. Lang joined Indaba in 2016 and served as the Firm’s Controller from 2019 to April 2023. From 2011 to 2016, Ms. Lang was a tax accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where she was responsible for tax compliance and consulting services for hedge funds, mutual funds, management companies, and business development companies. Annually since 2008, Ms. Lang has volunteered with the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (“VITA”) program to prepare individual tax returns for underserved communities.

Ms. Lang is a Certified Public Accountant in California and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.S. in Business Administration and a Minor in Chinese.

Zac Rosenberg

Mr. Rosenberg is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Indaba. Mr. Rosenberg joined Indaba in 2022. From 2016 to 2022, Mr. Rosenberg was Chief Compliance Officer and Counsel for Harvest Capital Strategies LLC. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Partner at Cordium, where he provided compliance and operational consulting services to managers of hedge funds, private equity funds, and other private investment funds.

Mr. Rosenberg graduated magna cum laude from California Western School of Law and from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in History and Political Science.
